HAIR REMOVAL

Covering:  Unwanted hair on the face and body, for males and females.

• Treatments: Laser, IPL.

Overview

If you have unwanted body hair that affects your confidence, The Skin Recovery Clinic can help. Unwanted body hair can be both embarrassing and unsightly, while some treatment methods can be painful and ineffective.

To combat this, we use two proven methods of hair removal, namely Intense Pulsed Light and Laser removal. IPL is a form of light therapy that can be used safely on various areas of the body by sending a pain-free wave of light into the skin which then kills the root of the hair.

We use the Lynton Excelight in our IPL treatments, an NHS approved system proven to be highly effective with astounding results for clients, ensuring clear, smooth skin that will make you glow inside and outside.

FAQs

How does light-assisted hair removal work?

Light is selectively absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The light energy heats the pigment and effectively destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding cells.

How is treatment carried out?

The applicator is placed on the skin, and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The process is repeated until the entire area is treated.

Am I suitable for treatment?

Most people can have this treatment, but grey/white hair has no melanin and is not suitable for treatment.

How does the treatment feel?

Treatment sensation varies, with most clients describing the discomfort as moderate and tolerable

What will I see after the treatment?

The hair follicles are damaged by heat, but the hairs remain in the follicles. The dead hairs shed after one to three weeks as the epidermis renews.

How long does each treatment take?

Treatments can take as little as 10 minutes to over an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.

Are there any side effects?

The skin may be red immediately after treatment, and the hair follicles may be swollen and bumpy, but this usually subsides within a few hours.

How many treatments are necessary?

Only hair that is actively growing is affected; therefore multiple treatments are needed. The required  number of treatments varies, but typically six or more treatments are required for optimum results
