FAQs

How Does Laser and IPL Light Work?

The light emitted from our NHS approved laser and IPL systems directly target overactive sebaceous glands, significantly reducing the number and severity of active lesions, and lessening the inflammation and occurrence of breakouts. The light stimulates the production
of new collagen to improve skin texture, and can also reduce the appearance of red or brown areas of skin associated with acne breakouts.

How is the treatment carried out?

The laser is placed on the skin, and a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is passed over the skin several times before moving onto the neighbouring area, and the process is repeated until the whole area is treated. Each pulse of light treats a large area of skin, and so the duration of the treatment is very short.

How does the treatment feel?

Our treatments range from mildly uncomfortable to a relaxing experience.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Immediately after treatment, the skin may appear red, and a warm tingling sensation may be felt. During some procedures, the skin is cooled to ease any discomfort, and a calming gel is applied after the treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Depending on the treatment, the treated area can become red immediately after but this usually disappears within a couple of hours. Most people experience no other side effects.

How long does treatment take?

Typically treatment sessions are between 15 and 60 minutes.

How many treatments are necessary?

The number of treatments necessary varies from person to person and depends on the type of treatment. A better indication will be given during the initial consultation once the affected area has been fully assessed.
