Stretch Marks and Scarring

  • Do you feel your stretch marks are unpleasant?
  • Do you feel your scars are unsightly?
  • Do you feel your body confidence would improve if you had the chance to reduce them?

Stretch marks are fine lines on the body that occur from tissue under your skin tearing from rapid growth or over-stretching. Many of us have a scar that we would like removed. Scars can be caused from a surgical operation, acne, skin grafting or from an injury to the skin. These stretch marks and scars can be effectively treated reducing redness and their appearance.

Frequently asked questions

How does the treatment work?
Our fractional laser treatment works by treating minute sections of the skin, which stimulate significant collagen renewal in the treated area. The surrounding non-affected areas of the skin aid the body’s natural recovery process for dramatic results without significant recovery time. As the new collagen cells replace the old tissue the stretchmarks and scars reduce in appearance.

What does treatment feel like?

A warm sensation is felt during treatment which is found tolerable for most clients. We also use a skin cooling device throughout the treatment which can reduce discomfort.

What should I expect after treatment?

Your skin will appear red and flushed for a few hours after treatment and can feel quite hot. As the old skin tissue sheds your skin may appear more bronzed or tanned for a few days post treatment. Your skin will naturally exfoliate and may flake as if you have mild sunburn.

How many treatments will I need?
We often advise a series of 3 to 6 treatments for optimal results and we do find that results continue to improve for months after treatment. Treatment is carried out every 4 to 6 weeks but your laser clinician will advise the optimal frequency during your consultation.

Are there any side effects?
Side effects are rare but could include a small blister which is superficial and would heal within a week or two. Some clients do experience darkening or lightening of the treated skin which is usually temporary and fades over the following months.

How long does each treatment take?
Treatments typically take from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the type and size of lesion.

Consultation Procedure
Prior to treatment you must first undergo a consultation where details about your medical history are obtained in order to confirm suitability. Before proceeding you will be asked to sign a consent form and undergo a test patch.
